Ok…I had just about hit buy when I realized a couple of things…

1) Color…from what I see when I click to buy it looks like it is just white…can you pick black if you want?…it really isn't a big deal, just wondering.

2) Accessories. What will come with the vulkano when it is shipped? Will you get a remote, ir blasters, power adapters, video cables? I see them for sale in the accessories page, but don't see them included on the buy page…do you have to buy them separate?

3) Price…I think I was thinking each one was going to be about $100 less. I thought the basic would be 199 and the pro 299…I was going to get the pro with the hdd, but now I'm not sure… $379 is a good chunk of change. I guess I'm thinking about buy the regular and seeing how much I can realistically save to the 16gb card. I had already told my wife and got a budgeted amount…she thought $300 sounded expensive; I'm not sure I could swing $379.

All websites covering this product said the prices were going to be 199 and 299 (for the 1 tb).  How did they price jump up so high?

I checked into a couple of things for you.

1) The Website sells only the White ones. The Black ones will be available from different Etailers and retailers later on.

2) All Vulkanos will come with all  the cables IR and Remote.  The Accessory page is for people who
misplace their cables, remote,  power adapte, etc.  You can also order a Hard Drive at a later date if you buy the regular Vulkano.

3) Don't know anything about the price change. The original news releases back in January said they would be less but they also said "Vulkano will come with 4GB of flash memory, while the Pro version will come with a 250GB hard-drive"  They now come with 16GB Flash Memory or a 1 Terabyte hard disk drive. So that informations changed also.

That doesn't explain why the price changed but its not unusual to see price variations 6 months after an orginal press release.

There also may have been other changes or upgrades from the originally demo'd Vulkanos. Don't know.

Decisions, decisions…. Smile

It's not like a Slingbox where you can hide it behind your TV because you never need to get to it. It will have to be showing somewhat.

It's a pretty slim box so its not like you would have a big square white thing sticking out. Let us know what you decide.

From what I understand, it will be shipped on August 10th…my post a little early was a bit misleading. I should have said, come on August 10th for shipping.

For those who are still thinking about ordering the Vulkano…the official pre-order release talks about 4 different sizing options…8gb, 16gb, 500gb, and 1Tb

That also means 4 different prices. However, the webpage as of me writing this post doesn't show that yet. If you are looking to get one for 259 instead of 279, you might want to wait until that option shows up on the webpage. I'm assuming it will show up. The website only shows the 16gb and the 1Tb…I went with the 16gb.
