Anyone know why there isn't a HDMI in? There is only an out.  Therefore, we still have to use component
cable…these guys can never get it right.

Probably because HDMI can be encrypted with HDCP to prevent recording. Content
providers and cable companies do not want you to be able to store a
perfect digital copy of their content unless it is controlled by an
approved encryption mechanism to keep you from redistributing it.

I'm confused by one of the features:

So if you go with the Vulkano Pro, can it provide DVR functionality EVEN if your set-top box is not a DVR?

Yes, but you don't have to get the pro. It is the same box. Just the storage size is different. You will save actual shows or movies on the Vulkano box's sd card (if you just get the regular vulkano, it comes with a 16gb sd card). So even if your box isn't a dvr, the vulkano acts like one and records for you.

Right but what frustrates me about this stupid company is all the mixed data.  For example the press release shows multiple options in pricing and storage.  However, you can only pre-order two different types and they don't bother to explain why.

I know…you are absolutely right…I guess "it is what it is"…I've pre-ordered one already and I have high hopes for it when it gets here. There is a lot of mixed data though; you are right about that.

I think I will wait until the product comes out and it is being sold on Amazon.  There is too many unknowns on the different offerings.  Lastly, I tried calling Moonson and kept getting indian people.  They were rude and unhelpful each time.  I wish someone would buy them out and start offering better support.

1) The Website sells only the White ones. The Black ones will be available from different Etailers and retailers later on.

To clarify. The Vulkano that you can pre-order is silver kinda like an iPad not white.

A word of caution to those placing "pre-orders"…

I placed my "pre-order" and Monsoon Multimedia saw fit to bill my credit card immediately though they were 2 weeks away from shipping!

Makes me wonder about the integrity of this company.

It's August 15th, have they started shipping the devices?
