I have called customer support about this already and supposedly this is being worked on…

I've hooked up a Tivo Series 1 to a Vulkano Flow with latest firmware.  I've got it set up and working, but it seems inexplicable that the CRITICAL "Tivo" button at the top of the remote is greyed out.  You need that button for literally everything.  Customer support did tell me to right-click on the remote and choose the Tivo/Top Menu text from the pull down, but what a hassle.

There's a lot of old Tivos like mine being made obsolete by newer HD hardware.  However, they are perfect for pairing with a Vulkano Flow for remote viewing since they record at the maximum resolution the Flow is capable of place shifting and the great Tivo software is so good for DVRs.

I'd like to see the skip button and replay buttons enabled too on the PC/MAC software.  These are the three most used buttons on the Tivo remote — yet all three are disabled/greyed out.  Tivo, 30-second skip, 8-second back replay button.  Because of the lag time, using fast forward and rewind is exceedingly difficult when remote viewing.  Enabling the skip/replay buttons makes things useful.

The iPhone / iPad apps have a menu button that works fine as the Tivo button and can be configured to use the 30 second skip and replay buttons in the DVR mode.  The rewind button does not send rewind on the MAC desktop app.  It works correctly on the PC app.

So come on Vulkano people.  Slingboxes are failing frequently because of cheap capacitors and more people than me are looking to Vulkanos to replace them – but the software needs basic functionality and it can't have that with most of the buttons on most remotes greyed out.

Which remote did you select when you set it up? It's been a while since I setup a TiVo but I recall that there were several options available. You might try the S2 code or something close to it.

I have tried all versions of Tivo series 1, 2, 3 and 4 and also the two Directtv Tivo settings.  The problem exists across all variations of Tivo.  Essential Tivo remote buttons are greyed out.  While trying the various kinds of Tivo, they all work to some extent so the IR signals being sent out are the correct ones — it's just most of the useful ones are missing buttons.  With the lag time, using fast forward and rewind is difficult — especially when the rewind button doesn't work as is the case in the MAC desktop software.  The ipad/iphone apps work correctly or can be configured to work correctly.

I had a similar problem with the Tivo Series 3 remote. The Tivo button was greyed out, among others. However, the Series 4 remote worked perfectly for me, with no greyed buttons.

I did notice that you could right-click on the body of the Series 3 remote and select "DVR Menu" to get the Tivo menu. So you may be able to use the right-click menu as a work-around. Seems like a button mapping problem, which is beyond me.

I did try having my Blast learn all of the Tivo buttons, but couldn't get any of them to work. I have two Tivos and use the special multi-tivo remote codes so maybe they are too unusual for the Vulkano. The default Tivo remote codes will control any Tivo. I just have to make sure the IR blaster hits only the one Tivo so that it doesn't control both of them simultaneously.
