Has anyone any real life experience of using a Lava to connect to another Lava over the web and being able to display it on the TV similar to a Slingcatcher? I'm struggling trying to find a review that details this. What is the quality like (I've got a 25mb upload speed at the remote location – the joy of Verizon Fios – and 12mb download in the viewing location so no issues with speed)

Thx weejasser

Hi,

We are using it here @ Monsoon office for a long time now and few of our customers are also using this without any issue.

Does it allow me full control of the remote cable DVR STB that is connected to the remote LAVA? What streaming speeds should I expect to see. I'm looking at purchasing two LAVA's hence my questions

thx

Hi,

Yes, you can control your STB remotely.

Well the speed depends upon a lot of things however you should expect a good speed considering you are having Verizon Fios.

Thanks for the replies. I know I can control the STB remotely however several posts on these forums suggest that you can only access channel up/down and power on/off on the STB via the remote lava. If I use the ipad app or the pc software I have full control of the STB and can use all of the features for example accessing and playing items previously recorded in the STB  planner. Does the remote Lava allow me full access and control of the remote STB?

Hi,

The remote Lava does not behave the way the ipad app or the pc software works. As of now it wont allow you the full access or control to your remote STB.

thx

Ok thanks for the info. I've gone ahead and ordered 2 lavas so here's hoping the upgrade is sooner rather than later

Cheers

How about a blaster as the transmitter and a flow as the receiver? Or must it be lava to lava?

Also where in the menu for the receiver do you find the transmitter?

In reading this FAQ it appears it is not possible. Or is the FAQ out of date?

As far as I'm aware you can use a flow as a transmitter with the Lava as the receiver which all in would be the cheapest setup however the reason for me buying two lava's is to allow me to stream in both directions I.e USA to UK and UK to USA

Yes I believe the FAQ is out of date

Still waiting on someone who has this setup posting to let us know what the reality is
