This is a follow up on our New Vulkano Lava Setup and Review Article.
In our original article we showed how we setup our Lava or Blast for remote Vulkano Streaming.  That article also reviews the quality, remote control operations, multiple viewers and Transferring Recordings from your Remote Vulkano.  You may wish to read it also if you have any questions on viewing another Vulkano with your Lava or Blast.

  1. Just to be clear in my understanding:  Will this allow you to view Vulkano 1 with Vulkano 2 on the same network, or are you able to watch Vulkano 1 with Vulkano 2 from a remote location, say a vacation home perhaps?

    Thanks.

  2. I am using this combination, works great. Vulkano 1 (Blast) is in New Hampshire and Vulkano 2 (Lava) is at my vacation house 200 miles away in Maine. Have had no problems, configuration was pretty simple. Love it !!!

    Hi,

You can access Vulkano 1 with Vulkano 2 from a remote location; anywhere may be your vacation home or any remote location in that matter.

So there is no misunderstanding, if you’re wanting to access “Vulkano 1″ (which would be connected to your main home STB) from your vacation home using “Vulkano 2″ (connected to the TV there via either component/composite or HDMI)    What you refer to as “Vulkano 1″ could be either a Flow, Lava, or Blast, depending on what features you require.  ”Vulkano 2″ would need to be either a Lava or Blast. You can’t connect to a Flow from a Flow.

  7. Hi,

At streaming end you can put any Vulkano be it Flow, Lava, or Blast however at the receiving end it need to be either a Lava or a Blast.

  8. Excellent.  Thank you.  I have my second unit on order now.

    All the best,

    Gottago

  9. Can the streaming end be a Vulkano PLATINUM????

This is awesome!!! I have a TV in my patio at home and I want to be able to watch outside without running cables. GREAT!!!

    Yes, it can be.

  11. Ok now I have the Lava in the vacation house and the Blast in the main house. Streaming works fine, video, audio, channel up/down.

Question for mikemics: are you able to run any other functions on the streaming source? I can only do channel up/down, Monsoon support tells me I should have more functionality and they recommended a firmware version for me to use on the Blast that should allow this. So far no success other than streaming and channel control. I cannot get to my STB DVR recordings, etc. I cannot turn the remote source on, I have to use a iPhone or PC player to turn it on.

As an interim fix, I use the iphone or PC Player to select what I want, then I switch back to the Lava for viewing. Kind of clunky. Looking for ideas.

    Thanks.

Did they offer you a way to get this firmware version or did you try it? It may be a beta firmware not yet publicly released.

  14. A link was provided and I did do the download and install.  I’m not sharing the link as I feel that this would be up to Monsoon to do once they are ready to release it.  I have a follow up to Monsoon to respond to my input.  I was just trying to get feedback from others as to if they have more functionality when streaming Vulkano to Vulkano, or if they too simply have channel up / down functions.

  15. I was able to place the Lava in my vacation house over the weekend.  I got update support info from Monsoon support.  They corrected a minor error in their instructions to me and I have installed their recommended firmware on the Lava at the vacation house.  Everything is working great now.

I have reprogrammed my Logitech Harmony remote to function as the Vulkano remote, the new firmware allows me to switch between STB (settop box) mode and Lava mode, and now I have full control over my STB functions.  Not just channel up / down.  This is working as expected.

Thank you Monsoon support, and to you all for your feedback.

    Gottago.

  16. Directv Whole Home to a Flow streaming to a Blast. Have complete access and contol of Directtv DVR recordings when access to the Flow from a PC. But not able to access the same Drectv menu on the Blast.

Can only get live stream and guide to come up.

We are trying to avoid streaming thru a pc therefor got the Blast.

Is there a trick to get full Directv menu to pull up on the Blast ?

  18. There is an unreleased firmware for the Blast to allow it to control the Flow in STB mode. You need to contact support.

    (Or take a look here: http://vulkanocommunity.com/forum/vulkano-lava/lava-to-another-la…..e-2/#p9900 )

  19. Until I can get support to provide firmware for the FLOW which has an IR Learning function which supports ALL the buttons contained on the LAVA, this is of very limited use.

  20. Does Home media option available in Vulkano Deluxe Pro, am not seeing this in Menu
