All the Monsoon Multimedia Vulkano boxes are physically the same size and stream at the same maximum rate (720×480) but there are differences in other areas such as storage, recording capabilities and setup.

That's strange. I just purchased a Platinum directly from Monsoon and it came with a 8GB SD card but the chart says it doesn't come with any.
This is very helpful. I recently considered the Flow and purchased a Platinun instead, because of the mobile app costs. Happy with it so far. I use it to control a ReplayTV, so this chart shows the Flow would have been a mistake, except maybe not really. But brand new to these devices and still quite ignorant, there were a number of things that were unclear to me and not cleared up by this chart. Partly it is because this is a chart based on “what's in the box”, rather than what each is capable of.
1. The Pro, Deluxe and Platinum differ only in the storage included in the box, but each has the esata and SD card slots, so you can add your own storage (I think. I added a 16GB card I had floating around). The pictures of the Flow, however, don't show these, so no storage can be added. I think that could be clearer. Not sure what the “*” is under the Deluxe.
2. The Platinum and the Flow show esata and USB cables in the box. Do they? I don't think the Flow even has the ports, does it?
3. The Flow says an IR blaster isn't in the box, but it does have the plug, so it could be added.
4. The Flow says no HDMI cable is in the box, but it doesn't have the plug, so it can't be added.
5. The Platinum says added storage is required for YouTube, but that isn't in the detailed specs.
6. The detailed specs say S-Video input is provided, but it isn't, is it?
7. The Flow says a remote isn't included, but does it have an IR sensor to use universal remote with?
8. The setup instructions say the box has an IR radiator so the blaster cable might not be necessary. Is that true of all of them? (I needed the blaster for my ReplayTV to respond.)

The Vulkano's use the added storage to save some YouTube information.
No S-Video. The detailed (tech) specs, on myvulkano.com, should not mention S-Video
Don't know. My guess even if the hardware was there it's probably not turned on. It has no TV menu like the Platinum & Deluxe models have for a remote to control.
